Daily Hadith [5-24
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allahs Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
None of you should desire death because of any misfortune which befalls him. If he cannot help doing so he should say: O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me.
(Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
- A Muslim should make use of this life by performing as many good deeds as he can.
- It is not desirable for a Muslim to wish for death because of a misfortune which befalls him because this may be an expression of discontent with the ordinance of Allah. Besides, he may lose the opportunity of returning to Allah in repentance and asking Him for forgiveness.
- Man does not know where goodness is hidden. So a Muslim should leave his affairs to Allah and rely on Him. Even if a Muslim wished to die, he should supplicate Allah by uttering these very words which the Holy Prophet taught us.
